Church Outreach

Caring Christians are individuals from the congregation who provide meals to church families who have need of short term help. Call 567-6287 to become one of these volunteers.

Parish Concerns Committee is a group that works with elderly and home-bound members of our church family to provide special events and treats from time to time. If you have a little time to spare, call the church.

Pastoral Care Team members are lay people who work with the pastors to give special care within our congregation. Each member has had an intensive training course and utilizes skills in listening, grief support and working with the elderly. Call the church  for more information.

The Prayer Chain is a ministry provided by church family members to those who are in need of special prayers. Each member prays daily, privately, at a time of his or her own choosing. To activate this group or to add your name to this special loving "chain," contact the pastors, 567-6287, or call leader Ruth Sandow, 567-8968.

Board of Mission and Social Concern has many volunteer opportunities through the year because of the wide range of its involvement in local causes, including Habitat for Humanity. Call the office for information.

Loaves and Fishes: Members of the First Church of Christ prepare and deliver food to this downtown Springfield food kitchen. This facility is operated by Open Pantry and serves three meals per day to homeless men and women. We prepare food three to four times a month, and prepare and serve on the second Sunday of each month. Please call with any questions. View recipes
