The people of First Church are compassionate. We love and serve our neighbors by volunteering our time and donating nearly $120,000.00 each year to local and national causes. Some of us gather to knit shawls for those who are ill, others to cook and serve meals to the hungry in Springfield, still others to assist local refugees. A handful of us even travel to Haiti to support a school / medical clinic there (pictured left). We invite you to share your time, talents, and treasure with neighbors in need.
   
First Church members prepare and freeze cookies and casseroles to be distributed to fellow members during times of crisis. The "Cook for Comfort" outreach effort has no deadline; get involved at any time by bringing cookies or casseroles to the church's deep freezer. Pans, recipes, and instructions are in the church office.
