About
our worship service
Perhaps
you would like to know what to expect if you choose to visit
us on Sunday morning. You will be greeted at the door by a
Deacon. If you have questions about anything, just ask them.
An usher will help you find a seat and give you a bulletin.
We stand to sing, but otherwise remain seated. All unison
prayers are printed in the bulletin. We sing hymns both traditional
and new, from the red Pilgrim Hymnal and the black New Century
Hymnal. We do not proclaim any creeds. We will pass an offering
plate, but visitors are not expected to make a contribution.
After the service you are welcome to join us for coffee and
refreshments in Bailey Hall, reached by exiting through the
left hand door near the pulpit.
Childcare
is provided for children through age 3. Ask a Deacon for directions
to the nursery. Children participate in the beginning of the
service and are dismissed for church school by the pastor.
When church school is over, the children will be brought down
to Bailey Hall to meet their parents.
We
celebrate communion on the first Sunday of each month. All
baptized persons, including children, are invited to participate.
Usually plates of bread and small cups of grape juice are
passed to the congregation, but occasionally we receive communion
by other methods.
While
we usually worship together at 10:00, we
often schedule services at other times around Christmas and
Holy Week and during times of national crisis. Please call
the church office (567-6287) for information.
