Founded in 1803, the Women’s Benevolent Society of the First Church of Christ in Longmeadow is believed to be the oldest continuously active women’s group of its kind in the country. To this day, we continue to honor our roots by enjoying fun and fellowship while working to make a difference in our community. 

 

Over the years, the group has welcomed speakers on a wide variety of topics and has hosted beloved Christmas fairs since at least the 1930s. Today, the annual Christmas on the Green Fair, held on the first Saturday in December, remains a joyful tradition for both the church and the wider community.

 

This event is the Society’s major fundraising effort, with all proceeds donated to local community organizations, continuing a legacy of service and generosity that has lasted for more than two centuries.

 

Membership is the WBS is free and open to all.
